Why start an art studio?
Because it sounds cool? (It does!)
We have many reasons:
- To share with others the joy that art has brought into our lives--Elizabeth and I have individually discovered the joy of expressing what is within us. We bring the beauty that is in our souls out in tangible form by making beautiful things. We both want to help others like you attain this joy!
- To continue the influence of art on all people in our community--By creating beautiful or useful things, we humans are able to live fuller lives. A 2016 study revealed that the act of creating art relieves stress for the vast majority of people. In fact, the study also found that the participants' skill level did not decrease their ability to destress by creating art! We hope you will consider this and sign up for one of our fun classes soon!
- To allow ourselves and hopefully at some point other artists to have a place to show and sell our work--Though making money isn't the most important thing, art supplies cost money. We would have a harder time being able to continue creating so many things without selling some of them. We would also eventually run out of space!
- To be part of a vibrant community of artists near us--There is nothing like being surrounded by artists to inspire us to create. Seeing so many people making wonderful things is exciting. So, perhaps this was our most selfish motive for starting an art studio, but I think it's okay to try to motivate ourselves to hone our talents.
When you walk into our studio, we want you to feel comfortable, alive, enthused, and inspired. We try to cultivate an atmosphere of positivity, acceptance, inclusion, support, and harmony. We want to help you form good memories, learn a lot, and perhaps even inspire some of you to become artists like us! We would love to meet you and talk to you about art or anything you enjoy making!
