My Big, Fat, Velvet Upholstery Project Part 9 (Last Installment)

My Big, Fat, Velvet Upholstery Project Part 9 (Last Installment)

Welp! I did end up finishing the project. Last thing to do was to add the dust covers, for which I used a black and white striped upholstery fabric. I dream of making this type of touch my trademark in my upholstery art one day. For a while I've had a dream of doing for upholstery what Lee McQueen did for fashion: making it into a true art. Breaking all the rules but in the most amazing way imaginable. I have all kinds of crazy ideas like installing miniature scenes into the backs of chairs, covering the entire arms with ginormous 4" welting, and so on.

Here are some pics of my final work, for your enjoyment.

Let's talk about some of Elizabeth's work too:

This is "Moving Up," an acrylic pour. I love how glacial it is. Almost reminds me of the Giant's Causeway in Ireland.

"Floral Explosion" reminds me of some of the wild fabric prints I've seen over the years. It's printmaking and acrylic paint.

"Hello, Spring" is a gelli print with acrylic. It's so happy! I absolutely love orange. I think this would brighten up a small room quite nicely. Get in touch with Elizabeth for more details at Elizabeth@themellowmakeryatx.com.

Caio and much love!
