It was a gorgeous sunny afternoon in Austin on March 9th, 2024, the first day we opened our studio to our friends and the visitors to Good Dad Studios. Up to the last minute (which was 1 PM) you could hear all kinds of shuffling, patter of feet, and other preparation sounds all through the building. Artists! Always trying to get everything completely perfect!
As the event got going, the vibe was chill, and hip people of all descriptions wandered around remarking "this is like a maze" and "I can't believe how much (art) there is!" The air was filled with the smell of candles and paint. Our neighbor Elisabetta hosted a small concert and the music bubbled through the hallway over a sweet, drowsy, pettable dog.
Elizabeth and I are extremely excited to be a part of a community of such talented and amazing artists: The Mellow Makery is a dream come true for us! We met and talked to so many wonderful people at this premiere Second Saturdays Good Dad Open Studio event. We plan to use this space to host classes and to sell our works. Eventually, we may help other artists sell their work as well!
